How to Apply

Eligibility
Admission to the SMIF is highly competitive and based on applications and interviews. Undergraduates may apply in their sophomore or junior year and, if selected, take the course during their junior and senior year. MBAs apply during their first year and, if selected, take the course during their second year.

Requirements

Enrollment in the COB M.S. Finance Program; considerations will also be given to qualified undergraduate students of COB and students with economics major in the Constantin College of Liberal Arts.
A two-semester commitment (Summer/Fall or Fall/Spring). Students must commit to both semesters. The SMIF meets regularly every week.
Commitment to your colleagues in the SMIF and the beneficiaries of the fund.

Responsibility

Students have total responsibility for the proper and ethical management of the portfolio.

Applications and Interviews

The application and selection process occurs twice a year, early fall and early spring. Check back here for the next available application form and due dates.

A rsum and UD unofficial transcript must be submitted with the application.

On the application, you will be asked:

    • Credit hours in finance, economics, accounting, statistics, computer science, etc.
    • Grades for certain courses.
      • MBA Students: Managerial Finance, Intermediate Accounting, and Business Analytics
      • Undergraduate Students: (TBD)
    • GPA
    • Why you want to be a member of the SMIF
    • Experiences, abilities and skills you can contribute to the SMIF
    • Briefly describe your outlook for the domestic and international economy. Give the reasons for your predictions and the anticipated effects on stock markets.

Applicants selected for interviews will be notified. Interviews will cover questions in finance, accounting and economics.
